Feel haiku slip through
your lips, fall to your hand, rise
bright as fireflies. Stars.
"Share a Haiku" project
Join me in sharing haiku wherever we go. Feel free to print the "Harper Share a Haiku" document. Cut the 24 haiku into slips of paper to be distributed at workshops and readings. Ask bookstore managers to set out a "give a haiku, take a haiku" bowl alongside the "give a penny, take a penny" bowl. And be sure to write your own haiku to share.
This project took shape in a brainstorming session with Scott Harris, the propietor of Everybody Reads bookstore in Lansing, MI. When in Lansing, be sure to put one of your own haiku in the store's give/take bowl.
Here's the haiku of an audience member at a recent reading I gave in Wisconsin.
